An Effective Teacher and Effective Teaching

            20^th of September 2011 is my first class in studying Principle of Effective Teaching and Assessment or we  usually call it PETA.  As we know that PETA is new course that I have got in this semester. I do not have an idea about this course before.  I think this course will be difficult but after the lecture introduces me to this topic. I little bit understand what will be discussed in this course. One of them is about an effective teacher and effective teaching. Then, it will be challenging course.

Talking about teacher and teaching, I think everyone has different idea or opinion about those, included me. By studying this topic makes me know what type of teacher and teaching which students need and they like. According to this course, the type of teacher and teaching that students need nowadays is an effective teacher who can create an effective teaching. I do agree with it.

 For me my self as the candidate of teacher, it is really an important topic which can help me to prepare my self for future. It is because a teacher is a key of student’s successful. Everything that teacher gives will influence the students.

Well, to be an effective teacher is not easy so the candidate of teacher needs to learn, for example by learning from the experience or people experience. Here, I would like to share about my experience during I was senior high school, I think it can help us to know more about  effective teacher.

When I was senior high school especially at the first grade, some of my friends and I disliked my English teacher. It was because she used old way to teach us. As like most of teacher who could not use the technology which is provided by the school. She just asked us to read the book, do the assignment and repeat what she said. It was really boring. Even she was really perfect in performance but I can not lie that it did not change our opinion about her that she in the fact, it really influenced the condition in the class, some of my friends often got sleepy and my value of this subject was always bad.

That condition was over when I was in second grade, my English teacher was a man. He was really friendly. He always had a good way to make the class exciting. He also used game in learning process and everyone liked it. He never forced us and he also did not ignore. He was really smart in communication and kindness. So the condition of my class was really comfortable. Everyone was brave to speak English some of them ever made mistake.

Based on that story, I can learn how to be a teacher who could make the teaching process interesting and I  also can see what will happen if a teacher can create good situation in the class. When I remember this story, I always hope someday I can do the best to my students as a teacher.
