Reflection of PETA Week 2

At the second meeting of the lessons Principle of Effective Teaching and Assessment (PETA), we learn about a method called the thematic learning and how to make lesson plans. We showed the video where a teacher taught using a thematic method.

Thematic itself means that the integrated learning in which some subjects are taught and combined into a single theme. In applied, thematic learning method while doing something that is part and related to the lesson being taught. For example in the video where the theme was environment and goals or targets to be achieved within the teacher learning that students are able to mention the names of family members, count to ten, and identify the type of color.

Teacher connect each lesson starts with asking students if they have rambutan tree in the house, and then ask, who planted the tree. Then the student replied that planting trees is the elder brother, father, mother, etc. On that way students met the teacher goal to explain about family member. As for the other objective in order to count and identify colors, a teacher brought her students to see rambutan trees and picking fruit. In class they are asked to calculate how many pieces they can and call the fruit color is obtained.

These methods of learning, is through appropriate when applied to elementary school students, where their curiosity to learn is still great while doing something so as not to get bored.  After seeing the video probably seek to find or develop teaching methods that exist to make more interesting once again.

After seeing the video on thematic learning, then we explained how to make lesson plans. Actually, I am still confused on how the process of making lesson plans because the term of the content has the same meaning each other for me.  However I will try to understand how to make the lesson plan, because it is our initial capital in teaching.
