4th e-reflection of PETA:


Learning from Microteaching

It was not like usual; there was no explanation about such topic in 4th PETA class. Although like that, it did not assuage my spirit to join this class. On the contrary, I felt if I got much inspiration because we conducted microteaching group. At that time there were seven groups which participated in this program, and they delivered some different interesting topics. Because of that, I enjoyed the 4th meeting PETA class.
Actually, this microteaching is the program that was set after we finished our lesson plan in 3rd meeting. In other words, I can say if it was the implementation of the lesson plan. In addition, it was also as a means to apply our knowledge about giving instruction to the students. Because of that, we struggled to find the right method for the implementation which suitable with the topic.
When we prepared the lesson plan, we (especially me) felt challenged. We have to come up with a lot of ideas to match the objective learning and the method would be used. For example, we had to find some videos for introduction, we arranged the sequence of teaching and learning, and also we looked for the rubric for assessment. I thought, yeah... That is teacher’s job. I am wondering that should I do all of those jobs when I become a teacher 3 years later? But, I promise to myself that I will do that. I will give my best for preparation, in event, and for assessment of learning. I do not want my dream as an English teacher become obsolete by the time.

After conducting the microteaching last session, actually I did not really satisfy with our performance. It was caused some problems during preparation. I hope in school experience next week, I can learn much knowledge that has relation with how to conduct effective teaching and assessment.

well, based on what I have read here, do you agree that preparation is important, especially in teaching?
what do you think about lesson plan? does it really help for you?

I always believe I can do anything best when I do preparation ..
I think, lesson plan is also kind of preparation. It was help me when my group conducted microteaching although the result was not good enough :(

we are still under the process mas far, just take it as a lesson for you, for me, and for others :)

by the way, thanks chintia ..

I'll try to match the method that I used with my students' personality. Because, you know if the success of the learning is mainly influenced by students. Do you agree with this?
