Teaching time!

I was so nervous and sweating, I had a butterfly in my stomach, a lot of words were just stuck on the tip of my tongue, then I finally could say, “Good morning, class!”. Those were what I felt on the previous meeting in PETA class, because I, Martan, Afilin and Farikhin had to deal with micro teaching. In micro teaching, we were applying our lesson plan into a teaching practice in front of the class with the rest of my classmates acted as the students.

To the best of my knowledge, this activity was held to prepare us in facing our next School Experience. We, SSE students year 2, were going to be teacher assistants. In order to make us be more prepared, Ms. Ine asked us to do this micro teaching.

I found it was not that easy to teach. Students involvement in learning and teaching activity became the thing that I really paid attention to. In micro teaching on the last session of PETA class, as I stated before, my classmates acted as the students. Frankly, it gave an advantage and an anxiety in the same time. The advantage was that my students in micro teaching were really cooperative, they came in front of the class bravely, answered the questions correctly and were easy to be directed. In the other hand, it became an anxiety because I realized that handling the real class would not be that easy. There must be students who keep in silence, hard to cooperate, shy and hard to be directed. I was afraid of ruining my real class.

Fortunately, I saw other groups did very well in their micro teaching. They were so creative and confident. So, they indirectly encouraged and inspired me to learn and teach better. To sum up, the previous meeting in PETA class made me realize that I have to believe in myself that I can teach greatly someday because I have learned about how to be a great teacher in PETA class, and also because I have a lot of great colleagues to be (my classmates), who always encourage and inspire me. You said, "...I realized that handling the real class would not be that easy."

So, what we have to do now to deal with that situation in the real context later?
