Be a Good Planner! (6th e-reflection)

My 8^th session of PETA subject was presentation some materials that we have not learned before the mid term test. Actually those materials are the continuation from topic “Model of Instructions” in which my friends and I learned about some model of instruction, such as direct instruction, guided-discovery, lecture discussion and group interaction. Mrs. Ine said that there are many other model of instructions that teachers can apply when they teach their students.  Teachers also should consider several things beside the knowledge about the students. The examples of those things are making a good lesson plan, and understanding the students’ learning styles and multiple intelligences. My group got topic “Developing a Good Lesson Plan”.

Perhaps lesson plan is very popular among many people who involved in education field. In my opinion, now most of them believe that lesson plan is very important, especially for teachers. If we want to make a parable, maybe lesson plan for teachers is as important as a map for adventurers. It will become a guide to reach their goals. Of course we need a guide when we want to go somewhere, don’t we? Teachers also need a lesson plan to make some planning that they will do in order to make the students attain everything that they should attain.

Based on my group discussion, there is no a strict form of lesson plan. Teachers can add or delete some points that they think those are not really important to be included in their lesson plan. However, they are four main points that have to be included in a lesson plan: goals (objectives), materials and tools, instructions and assessment. Goals are what we want the students be able to after learn this topic. Materials and tools that we need to teach also have to write in a lesson plan. I think it will help teachers to prepare all the materials and tools needed. Teachers need to assess the students’ achievement about the lesson given as well. Therefore, what methods that teachers will do to measure students’ achievement have to write also in the lesson plan. The other points that some teachers usually include in the lesson plan are belong to additional items.

One thing that I got from the last presentation session is we have to consider some points to make a good lesson plan. The more we practice to make good lesson plan, the more skill we get for doing that.
