Planning for instructions

Hi readers ^^ welcome back to my e-reflection journal part 2. Maybe I just want to summarize what I’ve got on previous meeting.

1# watched the video about thematic lesson and find out which part is the opening, activities, assessment and closing. Do discussion and conclude whether it was effective or ineffective.

2# the twin sins in curricula design. The common problem for teachers is actually about their main set toward fun learning. They are too concern in how to make learning more fun and engaging the students, but one things that should not be forgotten is the learning objective itself. I absolutely agree with the statement “twin sins in curricula design” below:

·         “Activity-focused” or “hands-on without minds on”. It’s mean that learning activities can be very engaging and fun but not necessary intellectually meaningful.

·         “Coverage” approach means that teacher only teach, test and hope for the best without explain deeply to the students.

3# recall about the Bloom’s Taxonomy which is can be used as frameworks in determining the stage of difficulty of instructions and assessment.

4# the last but not least, was develop mini lesson plan for High School in term of English lesson. Actually I need more explanation about what are standard competence, basic competence, indicator and objective. Honestly I got confused about the indicator. What should I put on that?

Overall, now I just realized that this course is really important for me as a teacher candidate. PETA is the basic preparation to shape me becomes a professional teacher later on. Although this course seems “heavy” for me but I will do my best!
