2nd PETA Reflection

In the second Principles of Effective Teaching and Assessment (PETA) class (9/27), my classmates and I learnt about how to develop lesson plan. Miss Ine started the class by showing us a video about teaching and learning process in a primary school. She then asked us to share our responses about the way the teacher taught and what we would do if we were the teacher. I think it was interesting to show us how to teach well. It was also made us to use our critical thinking to response the teacher on the video such as whether the way she taught is effective or ineffective, how the learning style she used, and what should or should not we do if we were her. She also explained Bloom’s Taxonomy which I still don’t understand what it is.
We then were asked to develop the lesson plan in group based on standard competence Miss Ine gave. To be honest, I was ‘blank’ about how to develop a good lesson plan. Fortunately, I had a discussion with my group mates and they helped me to understand it though I still feel some confusing things. However, thanks to them who shared me their ideas, that is one of the advantages of group working. The other thing I didn’t know is what the difference between goals and indicators in lesson plan. Miss Ine said those things are closely related. Goal is the objective of the lesson or what we aim for, while indicator is what factor indicates that the lesson is effective. Well, I hope I can understand and be able to develop lesson plan by my own self, just like what I wrote on the post-it at the first session.
