2nd SEP Reflection Paper: Teaching Time!


At the second week of School Experience in SMA Negeri 12, Mufarrikhin and I as a team teaching got four times chances to teach. We taught two classes, X-1 and X-2. We tried to turn our lesson plan we made into real teaching activity.
In the class, we tried to make happy learning yet the students got something from us to learn. We made group activities and had teacher-students and students-students interactions. We also asked students to do some presentations in purpose to give students chances to speak English in front of the class clearly and fluently. We also gave them a funny video to watch so the students don’t feel bored, still, the video was related to the lesson.
At the first chance we taught the class, we only used English to give explanations, orders, and questionings. However, students couldn’t get what we meant. At the second meeting, we used English 70% and Bahasa 30%.
The most challenging when we taught them was how to control the class and grab their attention. We only got knowledge about how to deliver and make activities from courses in this campus. I hope I know about class management in the future.
We asked the students to give comments and to write about their feelings after we taught them. Most of them felt happy, interested, and other positives feelings. The master teacher also said that we were good and could make a fun learning.

it seems like you tried to make happy fun learning and make your student happy to study with both of you, that is very good 'cause my team and I did the same. But what was actually your strategy? did you use particular strategy in teaching? was your strategy different or the same with your mentor teacher?

Sorry if I ask too much... :p

Our strategy was absolutely (OMG!) different from our master teacher. We used SCL by asked them to working in groups and doing some activities while our master teacher just explain them and asked them to read the book.
