The History of My First Teaching Experience

October, 18th 2011
This is the first reflection based on my school experience. I have a master teacher whose name is Mam Laila. I was very surprised that she graduated from Sampoerna Teacher Institute. I made assumption that she can show me good teaching technic in the classroom. She told me everything about her history since she started to be a teacher.
Well, I entered X-1 classroom to observe how Mam Laila teach the students. The topic is about the classes words based on derivation processes which she held at that time. First, she asked the students to review about the previous lesson. Second, the students were asked to make group disscusion. Third, students made a poster about word classes based on derivation process such as noun, adjective, verb, person, and adverb. Forth, every group should collect the poster to Mam Laila. Fifth, Mam Laila asked students to make sentences based on students’ poster content. Finally, every student improved their listening and speaking skill by DyNet application which provides appropriate derivation words pronunciation.
Traditionally, I read her lesson plan and I assume that Mam Laila have gotten her objectivity, because her students able to apply those of derivation words into sentence which they usually use in their real life. Then the standard competence could cover about reading, speaking, and writing comprehension. In addition, Mam Laila has adopted Cambridge curriculum to teach English subject. Honestly, I like her teaching method because it did not monotone, Mam Laila used interesting way to teach her students and the students could absorb the material clearly. ^_^

hey dear, yes you are so lucky, but in the other side you have to compete with her in teaching, because students will compare between your teaching and hers. you also have a responsibility of us (SSE students) to prove her that we are qualified.
