In this semester, I get assignment to observe and also to be teacher’s assistant. This is my third experience in school, I’m doing observe and teaching assistance in 54 senior high school. The difference with the previous semesters is I get senior high school students. Even though, I haven’t had opportunity to teach this week, I get much experience and interesting things during observations.
Before I observed, I had information from my junior about the English teacher who I’m going to observe. They said that the teacher is boring, she always gives assignments from the book. Before judging, I want to make sure in the class. I observed to classes, there are XI IPA 1 and XI IPA 2. My first impression when I get in to XI IPA 1, they are very calm. But, after the teacher doing her job in front of the class, I know that the students are calm because they are getting bored. The teacher is still using teacher centered-learning, it makes students passive in class. First, the teacher reviews the previous materials. Then, she discussed homework with the students. The teacher calls one of students randomly to answer question from the book. The effective things from teacher are while they discuss about homework, the teacher doing vocabulary activities, error correction from students’ pronunciation, plural & singular. Besides, teacher had given question that can enhance students’ critical thinking, but I think students still afraid to speak up in English. So, mostly, teacher is the only one who active in the class to give information. Teacher is also using English to communicate in English, sometimes she is also translate it in Indonesia. After they finished discuss homework, teacher gives assignment again from text book. And then, in the next meeting, they discussed it again. This method also happens in XI IPA 2, but the students in that class more active than the previous one, though only few of them are active. The teacher just sticks on text book from government.
The one thing that the teacher never does is praising students. It is interesting for me, I’m going to ask about this to the teacher and the students. Based on my observation, the teacher’s method is boring, because she always does the same thing, such as give assignment from text book and then discusses it with the students. I have learnt many things from my observation, from my experience I hope I will be better for my future.

I haven't taught this week, my turn is next week. so, this week I just observe the class, suitable portion :D
If I teach later, I wanna make the students active to speak, not just theory. I will implement the knowledge that I've got form my lecturers.
