PETA: Teacher and Model of Instructional

Learning PETA is really challenging. Here, we can see what a teacher should do in teaching students. Based on our thought, we do agree that PETA helps us in preparing our selves as teacher candidates. It is important course to be learned. Well, we have already known that we have studied about many things here as like an effective teacher and effective teaching, lesson plan, giving instruction and models of instructional. Those topics are necessary to be understood because it can be our modal in teaching someday.
First, when we learned about an effective teacher and effective teaching, it supports us to know what an effective teacher is and how to create an effective teaching. Let see in the real teaching today, there are some teachers who can not be an effective teacher and they do not understand about an effective teaching. It often makes students bored. Hence understanding how useful an effective teaching is and apply an effective teaching aid us creating good atmosphere teaching.
Second, it was about lesson plan. Someone can get successful in their life it is because he / she has preparation involves a teacher. To create an effective teaching is not easy as like what we thought. We do realize it. So a teacher needs preparing his / her self before teaching. Here, he / she needs lesson plan. By guiding of lesson plan, it can make easy teaching process. Every single thing that a teacher wants and needs are organized them, as like indicator, objective, material, the way to teach and so on.
Third, the challenging topic, it was discussed about models of interaction. They are many models of instruction in teaching that we have discussed. Those are direct istruction, Guided discovery, Lecture-discussion, and Group interaction. Those models have some strength and also weakness. We can not use all the models but we should use it wisely. Which one is suitable for our teaching and which one is not. Well, from our discussion, my friends and I are going to share more about models instruction.
Actually the material we have learned in PETA is related each other. We can not separate from other. They are important to support our teaching as like this topic ‘models of instruction’. It is kind of teacher’s way in teaching students. Hence as teacher candidates we should master this part well.
Direct method is kind of model instruction which is focus on teacher. This model focuses on teacher. Here, teacher is a model. He / she guide the student but he / she is not autority. However, in this method student can be active in the class.
Guided discovery, this model supposes student to find the way in solving their problem. They should use their thinking in over come a problem. There are some phases such as introduction and review, open-ended phase, convergent phase, closure, and application. The main point of this model is teacher provide scaffolding for student.
Lecture-discussion is kind of model instruction which teacher should give lecture to student. There is no assessment here, sometimes students get difficulty because the material is easy to be forgotten.
Then the last is about group discussion. This model have some strategies to do as like face to face interaction, group goal, individual accountability, collaborative skill and group processing. By doing those strategies, it can create group spirit so students can help each other in learning process.
As the teacher candidate, those models are helpful if we can use as good as appropriate in our teaching.
