REFLECTION PAPER WEEK 2

In week 2, I have opportunity to teach for 2 classes. Subconciously, I implemented the way my lecturers treat their students in campus. Based on my observations, at that time the students studied about narrative text. Mostly, the teacher only considered reading skills of students. The students just read and then answered the questions from the textbook. Therefore, I want to make them more active and sharpen their speaking, listening and writing skills. Though, they were not familiar with the method that I gave to them, they still interested with the unfamiliar method.

The teacher always discuss about the homework with the students. While the discussed, the teacher gave knowledge to the students, such as vocabularies, tenses, and grammar. I think that activity is effective. Based on my interview, the teacher said that the teacher just follow the textbook from the government. So, the teacher gave activity based on the textbook. The reason why the teacher used that method because the topic was about narrative text, so the students have to know what are the characteristics of  narrative text and the example of narrative text. It was like the teacher just used that method for teaching narrative text. However, when I interviewed some of students in the class which I observed, the students said that they were bored with the way the teacher teaches them, because the teacher always uses the same method. The teacher and students answer were different.

Based on interviewed, I think the teacher used the same method for all topics. It made the students bored with the lesson and also the lesson. I got lesson from my observations and the interview, the method have to adjusted with the topic that the teacher wants to delivered to the students in order to make the students interested on the lesson.
