Teaching Time

PETA: Fourth e-relection

On Tuesday, 11 October 2011 was a third meeting of PETA. That time was different activities in classroom. My friends and I in a group did microteaching one by one. I called it non-stop microteaching presentations. Imagine, all of us presented our own lessons commutatively only in two a half hours. It was great.

The microteaching was like group as a duty pretended to be teachers and the rest of my friends pretended to be our students. My group lesson plan topic discussed about public speaking. Generally, I explained objectives from this lesson, classroom activities and classroom assessment.

Objectives from public speaking lesson were be able to speak English correctly, be able to use appropriate language and be able to deliver intentions as public speaker. So, classroom activities and classroom assessment must be relevance to the objectives.

My group conducted four classroom activities. These are discussing, watching video, group discussing and performing. Classroom assessment covered student participation, group discussion and performance.

Discussing in my microteaching were about characterization of good public speaker and what public speaking is. We were watched four videos about newscaster, party’s master of ceremony, host of celebrity show and funny weather news reader. Students expected to discuss everything they got from videos about public speaking. Then performances were an amazing part of the microteaching. One representative from every group have to role play as news reader, host and master of ceremony. They did it well.

I was thinking, what kind of teacher am I? Attended PETA meeting made me want to teach early. I cannot wait for my graduation and meet my real students. PETA meeting was nice to be there.
