5th e-reflection of PETA:

Sharing Gives Clearer Understanding

The students of Sampoerna School of Education had done School Experience Program (SEP). Yet, the stories behind it are still sesomnate. In last session of PETA class, I heard a lot of nice story from my friends whom they underwent SEP in other schools. It was great to know everything what my friend experienced. In one hand there was a good story because they got what they expected before from the program, but in the other hand there was also sad story because they experienced something unexpected for example, he/she became the object of bullying. The most important thing is the story inspired me about how to conduct, manage, and succeed learning.
In last session of PETA class, not only sharing SEP but we also reviewed about model of instruction. Actually, this review is very important especially for me. I found any differences idea from my friends about this material. As the impact, it was make me confuse. Yet, for this moment I am enlightened.  
Here is what I got from the last session (revision of model instruction posting):
1.                   Direct Method
In this method, the teacher has role as the centre of learning process.  The implementation is the students will get knowledge just from the teacher. Its role could give either a good or bad impact based on teacher competence. The competence here means that he/she could measure how much knowledge should be transferred to the students in a session. As we may have to know, there is a consideration if the students get too much input, they will get overload. On the contrary, it will be a good model for the learning if teacher can manage this issue well.
2.                   Lecture-Discussion
In lecture discussion, there is no discussion between student and student like what I had told in last posting. In this model, the teacher conducts a learning with a discussion atmosphere. So, there is no one to be the centered of learning because teacher and students have equal position.
3.                   Guided Discovery
Actually, I already comprehend this model well. The explanation was same with what I have known. But at the last session we discussed when guided discovery effective and ineffective. This model could be effective if the students have strong intrinsic motivation. Not only that, the teacher are also strongly suggested to use a creative way of teach to attract students’ attention.
4.                   Group Interaction
In this group, the students will comprehend the learning material by their friends help. So, the objective of this model is to make an independent learner in every session. As the addition, the teacher role here is to make sure whether the students comprehend the material correctly or not.

my experience? It was very nice kom .. I underwent my SEP in SMA N 12 Jakarta. :D

If you ask me about my understanding in model of instructions, I'll answer ... I'm enlightened.
