PETA is a shortened of Principles of Effective Teaching and Assessment. In some previous meeting, I have learned about the effective teaching, and then in this meeting, I learned about the effective assessment.
Before starting class, we were divided into some groups. We had to answer some questions and all about the assessment. Here we just did like students who did guided discovery. For instance, we found a question which asked differences between evaluation and assessment. Basically, Ms. Ine has not ever explained it yet. However, we used our prior knowledge to guess and answer the closest meaning of this question. The next activity is group discussion, we discussed our thinking toward those questions, sometimes pro-cons happened in our activity and it was so interesting (especially when we talked about PETA’s assignments).
While having the group discussion, my mind was flashback to my previous education. To be honest, I never heard and found rubric or guide lines in my previous education. I just concluded that I did not get an effective assessment during my previous education. Overall, I really want to a teacher who apply the whole principles in PETA class and make my student’s learning become effective. I can’t hardly wait for it :).
