Last session on Principles of Effective Teaching and Assessment (PETA) Miss Ine asked us to make a picture about our feeling and shared to our pair. After that Miss Ine wanted us to draw again about what we have in our mind if she says about word “test”. Thought about that word, I just could draw a confuse face and a sentence “oh God please….” because I felt boring to face more assessments.
After that we had a sharing session about what is assessment. Miss Ine gave us some questions which related with our topic. Examples the questions such as what is assessment, what are the differences between assessment and evaluation, what is assessment use for? We may know that assessments are used to evaluate students’ progress. Beside of that purpose, teacher also could give feedback to the students in case that if the students got minimum score on the assessment, will be her/his motivation to be better. In Indonesia, still use paper and pencil test to assess students in final exam. In my opinion only use only one kind of assessment to decide students’ graduation because there were facts that even smart students could not pass the test. It means that there was something wrong with the students.
In designing assessments teacher should consider to students’ multiple intelligences and learning style. Assessments which related to students’ intelligences will make them confidence to do the assessment. Students who failed in final exam in my opinion could be because of extraneous variable like nervous or scared.

So what will you do to anticipate that?
Use assessment that students mostly like. It is also do after we have known about students' intelligence of course. I hope this will answer your question kris.
