In this third semester, I have to visit high school to become teacher assistance. I am visiting a religion high school, MAN 11 Jakarta. MAN 11 Jakarta located in Lebak Bulus. I started the visiting at 17 October 2011. I need to attend English class only. I am having observation and assistance.
I will reflect about my experience when I attended English class at X grade. The English teacher was Mr. J. 36 students belong to that class. The class started at 6. 30 am or first meeting at that day. My first impression was about the punctual teacher. Good impression, isn’t it?
In that day, the class discussed about linking verb. Students looked very enthusiastic when the teacher asked about the familiarity of the topic to students. Generally, the teacher applied lecturing way. It means teacher says and students listen.
Another situation was some students at the back were not listening carefully. So, when they asked to answer some questions they did not know yet. That was because huge and noisy classroom atmosphere. However, the teacher was success handle that. It was because his way in teaching was very fun. He was success get student’s attention.
My duty as a teacher assistance was to check student’s worksheet. I checked form of the sentences. I also gave score. It was great. The teacher also used some instruments during the class. The instruments are screen, projector, whiteboard and marker. I learned much from that meeting. Hopefully, I will be an ideal teacher in the future.
