Microteaching

Teaching is teachers’ duty. That is why we were having microteaching last session of PETA. As teacher candidate I should know how to teach effectively.  Last session I was having microteaching with my group. It was about public speaking. I think it was not too bad and excellent either. We still need improvement.
The student which was our classmates cooperated well even though there were some who did not want to cooperate. Most of all it was good I think. There were also microteachings of my friends from another group. They were amazing.
After doing the microteaching I realized how hard maintaining students’ attention is. As teacher we should create meaningful learning. First of all we should be able to maintain our students’ attention so they can understand the topic. I think I will find another challenge as teacher when I go to real job as teacher.
This microteaching activity is good for us as teacher candidate. We can get visualization about how teaching effectively is. Moreover, this can help us to prepare ourselves to be able to create effective teaching and be professional teacher. Microteaching gives us opportunity to teach because that is what we are going to do in the future. It also gives us a chance to lead our student in discovering something new before we really teach in real life.

yup, I do absolutely agree with your reflection.
It was so hard to grab students' attention, right?
so, what will you do if you have a class in the last session and the students are not focus anymore? what you gonna do to make the class effective?

Chintia: if students starts not listening to you, I think we can speak louder and ask them to listen.. or we can give them warning like not giving them good score if they still won't listen.

Rindy: I think every instruction has its strengths and its weaknesses, I just can say that we can combine or use various instruction in teaching language, for example we can use direct instruction for teaching basic grammar and lecture discussion for teaching conversation. :)
