Learning Teaching by Teaching

This was the first meeting of PETA class after school experience. We started class with group activities. In the group we shared about our experience in school visit. I heard some unique story from my friends. There was school with unruly students. In the case, teacher obeyed to what the students want. Then, in learning process students didn’t give attention to the teacher. They even listen to the music with used headset. The story made me shocked. Then the other story from my friend, in the school she found there were some students who became trouble maker in the class.

Reflect to the story of my friends’ experience, I think as a candidate of teacher we must to think bad possibilities before we conduct teaching in the class and make some anticipate to solve it. Fortunately, I got school which have students mostly well. In the first I did teaching, I got nice students. They were enthusiasm in every activities that my friend and I gave to them. In the end of class I asked them to gave comment to us. All of their comment were positive. When I read it I felt so happy and it made a new spirit for me. Some of them said that they want we teach them again in a long time.

In the last day, they said that they must miss us. I was sad when I heard it, because I would miss them too. Then, in another class, I only found a little problem. If I compare with my friends’ experience, it just usual problem that teacher usually found. It is such as most of the students in that class were passive students, so when I asked them they didn’t answer just keep silent. I think to solve problem like that I must find the appropiate teaching method. I think all of the story from my friends was amazing, and it can training us to be better in the next school experience.

After we sharing, we did disccusion about teaching method and did gallery walk. From this activities I can more understand about all of teaching methods. I became know when one teaching methods can be effective to use in the class, what the strenght and the weaknesses, and what differences and similarity between one method to another methods.  In school experience I used some teaching methods and combined it. I think all of methods are good, but there are not the best teaching methods. Based on my school experience, I hope the next semester of school experience I can implement better teaching methods.
